Just before Christmas 2009 we had the privilege of representing Australia at the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards  in the e-Inclusion and e-Community Category. I felt very humbled to be in such company and competing against the best of the best from member countries across the Asia Pacific.

APICTA’s 16 member-economies include Australia, Brunei, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. It was quite remarkable to see the large number of representatives from the many countries represented, demonstrating the significance of these awards in the region.

Unfortunately, this time we didn't walk away with an award but found ourselves in the top five contenders. I will long remember the experience of the gala dinner with 500 attendees at the Crown Casino in Melbourne celebrating with a "Welcome to Country" ceremony followed by Kylie Minogue impersonator performing.
