Admin Bandit has been honoured with a national award at the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) iAwards.

Admin Bandit has just been named the nation’s number one software product for the community sector after its national win at the iAwards, the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) ICT industry awards. The award, seen as one the IT industry’s highest accolades, was a great scoop for the local Canberra business, when it won last Wednesday, 27th of May at the awards ceremony in Melbourne.
Taking out the top prize in the e-Inclusions and e-Community category, Admin Bandit, a software product for volunteer treasurers in community organisations, has been recognised as an industry leading product beating all other Australian state and territory entrants.
Designed by solo business entrepreneur and mother of two Nerida Gill, Admin Bandit is an innovative accounting software program designed in Canberra, and was originally created for volunteer treasurers in ACT preschools. Admin Bandit has now been developed as an online program allowing increased access right across the volunteer sector in Australia.
“Admin Bandit was originally designed to support volunteer treasurers in preschools throughout Canberra. After the positive response to the first release of the program, we developed it further to support volunteer treasurers across all community organisations in Australia,” said designer Nerida Gill.
“Designing a financial software product that can be used by people with minimal financial knowledge has meant that Admin Bandit is now used by sporting groups, school parent associations, scout and guide groups and groups of all shapes and sizes.
“This award win will help us in our efforts to become the number one supplier of accounting software to every grassroots community organisation in Australia,” Ms Gill continued.
"Building of 15 years of awarding technology innovation in the Australian economy, the inaugural e-Inclusions and e-Community iAward recognises the huge potential benefits that ICT can offer the community sector. It is fantastic to see this promise being fulfilled through the work of businesses such as Admin Bandit, the first national winner of this award," said AIIA CEO Ian Birks.
"Companies like Admin Bandit demonstrate the vital contribution that quality software and innovation can make to the community sector," said Mr Birks. "Admin Bandit reflects extremely highly on the health of technology innovation in Australia and the standard of companies making that contribution."
Admin Bandit recently received Innovation acceleration grant funding from the Business and Industry Development area of the ACT Government, Chief Ministers department. This funding allowed Admin Bandit to engage a team of internationally based developers to complete the development of the program for its release onto the Australian market in February 2009. Admin Bandit will now represent ACT and Australia in the Asia-Pacific ICT Awards later in 2009.
