Is it again that time of the year when you wouldn’t refuse some additional income for the sporting clubs you manage? If you have tried just asking and relying on your supporter’s generosity, you may have found out on your own that it doesn’t always work.  The best way to collect money is to carefully plan and organise a successful campaign which will attract more donors and will back the club up in times of need. And if you are running out of ideas, here are a few good examples of fundraising campaigns we picked out for you!

An Auction

One great fundraising event which will leave everyone satisfied is an auction. Basically, you need to find free goods (or services) and offer them to the people who attend the auction. You can have a traditional, silent or Dutch auction – that really depends on your preferences and won’t make a serious difference in the result. So the first step is to ask the fans and supporters to donate interesting and valuable objects that can be auctioned. The club can also offer such objects – sport memorabilia like famous players’ equipment, cards, photos, personal items etc. If there are people with specific talents or skills such as hairdressing, cooking, or carpentry, you could ask them for a promise that they will fulfil for the winning bidder. You can even set up an online auction, but that’s never as enjoyable as the real one.

Quiz Events

Another great option you have is a quiz event. That’s an alternative of the well-known pub quizzes, but it could be held in the morning or in the afternoon so that even the smallest fans, supporters and members of the club can take part. You will need to find prizes for the quiz winners – these can be obtained from your sponsors, from the families of club members etc. and there will be an entry fee for everyone who wants to participate. Quizzes are usually a great fun, but if you want to be successful, make sure you plan the whole thing very carefully. For example, you want questions that will make people enjoy themselves and laugh, not ones that will make sure they never take part again.

Sell Advertising Space

There is nothing wrong in turning your premises into a catalogue if that will back up the club financially. Sell the advertising space around the pitch, offer posters and customised beer mats in the canteen/bar, add some ads on the equipment of the players. You could also consider adding memorial tablets to visible and important places associated with the club – e.g. the hall, the canteen etc. If you rent a building on a busy road, you can also rent out the windows – there will be many companies happy to take them up. And, of course, you can add some ads on your website – when it comes to online advertising, there are numerous opportunities.

Raffles

sporting clubsDon’t forget about the raffles as they can easily add a few hundred dollars to your club’s bank account. Offer raffle tickets on every fundraising events you organise and give the winners prizes or services that you have acquired from supporters. You can also consider organising raffles for every match your club has – they can add an extra dollar to the ticket and every time there will be a winner!

All in all, you see for yourself that there are many fundraising opportunities for sporting clubs. In order to be successful and never again worry about funds, just remember that it is good to be creative – the more you use your imagination, the bigger the chances everyone will enjoy the event and happily donate money to your cause. No need to wait anymore – just pick one of our ideas or think of something yours and get going!
